We evaluated mobile drip irrigation (MDI) against two common center pivot nozzles - low-energy precision application (LEPA) and low-elevation spray application (LESA) – in Kansas corn.
We found no significant differences detected in yields and water productivity among the application devices probably due to above normal rainfall during the study. Irrigation capacity appears to have a more significant effect on yield compared to irrigation application method. Benefits of MDI were found in reduction of wheel-track rutting and ease of carrying out fertigation.
