We studied the impact of crop row placement on crop performance, irrigation water use efficiency, and yield using subsurface drip irrigation (SDI). The results indicate that while planting accuracy is important to achieve yield uniformity in neighboring crop rows, overall yields are affected more by irrigation and climatic conditions than row offsets with respect to SDI tape. This study suggests that use of SDI can be successful with or without access to high precision guidance systems for planting.
