Our team has used, gathered, and generated many kinds of data as part of work that aims to represent and improve our understanding of High Plains region biophysical, economic, and social phenomena.

For example, a large, cross-​disciplinary group has worked in close collaboration to develop a model that can be used to evaluate how different field management and policy scenarios might impact groundwater and levels over time. The team has worked to calibrate and validate each part of the model (hydrologic, economic, crop/​soil, and climate data) before integrating these component parts together. Other team members have analyzed how a common set of producer, farm, and resource characteristics influence groundwater values, and concern among producers with regard to future groundwater availability. Still others have analyzed historical climate trends to identify factors driving crop yield variability.
